Warner Bros. Pictures thinks that it’s too early to let go of Christopher Nolan after turning Batman into the box office breaker in the superhero film genre.’ So they decided to bring him in together with amazing director Zack Snyder to create the new Superman movie called “Man of Steel” or as his alias to his fellow superheroes and villains alike. While Brian Singer’s take on “Superman Returns” barely made $400 million in box office sales WB is optimistic that the darker version of Superman’s story from two of Hollywood’s best writer/director will secure the jackpot this time.
Zack Snyder has had a winning streak of almost all the films he’s been involved in, including “Dawn of the Dead,” “Watchmen,” “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole” and “300.” Meanwhile Chris Nolan is mostly known for his work on the Batman trilogy and “Inception,” it seems that WB has learned since “Superman Returns” flopped big time. Incredibly a British actor was cast this time - Henry Cavill known for his performances in “The Immortals” and “Cold Light of Day.” Well I gotta say that he looks like the matured version of Tom Welling from the “Smallville” TV series but he’s a little more refined.
We’ll also get to see Clark’s side of the story where he works as a farm boy in Kansas and in the movie trailer he also did some fishing job like that in the TV series “The Deadliest Catch” from Discovery Channel. This truly is something that we’ve never seen before and now rumors are already circulating in the web that we might see Superman fighting a no-holds-barred battle between him, General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Faora (Antje Traue) just like in “Superman 2” as they are the obvious villains in the movie. But since his opponents are also Kryptonian that means that they get the same powers as he does on Earth and you can picture out how the action scenes will be this time with all the advanced computer effects that technology has to offer – it will be as epic as the comic book pages that had captured the imagination of readers for decades!
Now at last we will see the Man of Steel in action, I mean as in throwing buildings and punching someone so hard that sends him (or her) flying 500 miles an hour. This will be the ultimate Superman movie that we’ve all been waiting for. And a storyline as edgy as “The Dark Knight?” Man that is to die for! I think both kids and adults alike will enjoy this movie as much as they have with the Batman trilogy and hopefully this time, it will not be about his costume but who he really is to the people of Earth.
The Man of Steel movie is set to release on June 14, 2013 and is expected to be the biggest action film next summer.
